A Spanish (Catalan) painter, considered one of Spain's best regarded contemporary abstract artists, Modest Cuixart along with his cousin Antoni Tàpies, the poet Joan Brossaand, painters Joan Ponç, and Joan-Josep Tharrats, he was the founder of the surrealist/dada review and the legendary Barcelona based avant garde movement, the DAU AL SET in 1948.
